IMUND, 2024

[intended to be an individual experience]

take off your shoes before entering.

move quietly. she is sleeping.

in the shower, you will confess to the diary.

cleanse your hands with soap and water.

exit.

a girl’s bedroom which, on the surface, appears simply to be a youthful, bubbly mess, reflective of the claustrophobic aesthetic of the late 2000s, is actually realized to be a male dominated space. it’s a visual representation of the invisible gaze many women grow up unknowably, uncontrollably preening for.

with references made to various facets of religion; the chosen fruits, the chicken roost that doubles as an altar of girlhood, with imagery of men placed at its peak, the cleansing in the shower, the confessional, a gendered bible; it is intended that the idea of the “male gaze” becomes synonymous with the watchful eyes of God.

the chickens, one of the most widely consumed forms of poultry, become a humorous safe haven amongst the chaos where, while they are flightless, they flock together, unknowing of the coming slaughter.
